Job description

Residential Senior Researcher/Associate, Bidwells

Location: London

Bidwells is a leading real estate adviser, specialising in the UK’s most pioneering sectors: science & technology, sustainability, and modern living solutions.

As the first multi-disciplinary property consultancy in the UK to achieve B Corp certification, Bidwells delivers sustainable and innovative property advice nationwide to meet the evolving demands of new technology, climate change, and client needs.

For decades, Bidwells has shaped the UK’s science & technology real estate and renewables sectors and established a strong presence in needs-based asset classes, such as operational living. Today, a team of 600+ experts manage over £5.2 billion in property assets and provides management or advisory services for over 4 million acres of the UK’s countryside and coastline.

Bidwells is a research-led business focused across a series of clearly defined high-growth areas. We are seeking a Senior Researcher / Associate to play a key role in building our residential business, as well as supporting close long-term relationships with our clients. This is an exciting opportunity to build presence in a market-leading environment.

The residential business spans strategic land, planning, development advisory, capital markets and sales and lettings. This new position will play a central role in supporting the growth of the Bidwells residential business, working closely with our BTR and co-living teams.

The role will take responsibility for evolving and delivering our residential research programme. The research team is small and therefore the structure is flat with everyone bringing specific areas of expertise.

Within this position you will work with teams across our offices, engage directly with clients on instructions, as well as speak at industry events.

What you'll be doing:

  • Deliver a limited suite of market reports in conjunction with business teams.
  • Lead on residential focused thought leadership research with the support of other members of the research team. Projects to be delivered in-house or with consultants / academics as appropriate.
  • Authoring reports and blogs on residential market trends.
  • Liaise with the marketing and communications team to ensure maximum business impact is achieved for research outputs.
  • Oversee (and develop as needed) our bespoke residential data.
  • Present at Bidwells internal and client events.
  • Work closely with the Bidwells Operational Living consultancy team to maximise synergies for the business as a whole.
  • Build an understanding of the Commercial and Energy & Climate Change research programmes to secure the best from our wider research for the residential business.

About you:

  • Approximately 5+ years of previous real estate research experience. A background in economics would be preferable.
  • Residential market experience and a keenness to build connections across the other sectors in which Bidwells operates.
  • An innovative thinker with a genuine interest in understanding in rapidly evolving sectors.
  • Track record in undertaking qualitative and/or quantitative research, including experience of analysing the relevant demographic, economic and employment datasets.
  • Experience engaging with senior business leaders and clients.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong writing, editing and proof-reading skills.

Why Bidwells?

We’re a different kind of business. Whilst we’re a major player in the property sector, Bidwells remains a privately-owned, independent Partnership, with an inclusive, entrepreneurial culture. We give our people autonomy and take the time to listen.

At Bidwells, we are driven by our mission to provide the UK’s most sustainable and innovative property advice.

We are a values-led business with a deep commitment to social value. We have chosen to certify as a B Corporation (B-Corp) to demonstrate our commitment to using our business as a force for good, increasing the positive and minimising the negative impacts of our operations and services.

What’s in it for you:

  • Competitive Salary: We recognise and reward talent.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Including up to 8% matched pension, private medical, medicash plan, your birthday off work and lifestyle discounts and perks.
  • Professional Development: Continuous learning, study support and promotion opportunities.
  • Innovative Culture: Be part of a forward-thinking team at the forefront of industry trends.
  • Family Friendly: We offer enhanced family leave policies to support individuals close to you.
  • Work-Life Balance: We value your well-being and offer agile working to support it.

Bidwells is dedicated to fostering a truly inclusive culture of belonging, where everyone can thrive and succeed as their true and authentic selves at every level. We are committed to equal employment opportunity and positively encourage applications from all suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of race, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, disability, age, sexual orientation, transgender status, religion or belief. Flexible working requests are considered from day one.
