Job description

Our City office is seeking a Private Client Senior Manager to join their dynamic and expanding department. Your main responsibilities will include driving the delivery of personal tax advisory work, such as report writing and leading discussions with both prospective and existing clients. Additionally, you will oversee a team of junior staff responsible for the daily delivery of private client services across a diverse portfolio of individual clients.

Compensation: £77,000 - £90,000 / year

This is a key client-facing role in the office, requiring credible and professional interaction with high net-worth clients and professional advisors. Excellent technical skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate complex tax information to non-experts. You will actively manage the private client team’s delivery, suggest process improvements, mentor staff, and provide technical training.

Key Responsibilities

1. Support partners and directors in team management and business development.
2. Manage a diverse client portfolio with various income sources.
3. Lead technical advisory work and manage ad hoc assignments.
4. Act as a primary contact for clients and professional advisors.
5. Handle complex capital gains tax issues and oversee UK tax return filings.
6. Monitor team progress, conduct staff appraisals, and foster personal development.
7. Produce high-standard written work and improve team efficiency.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

The ideal candidate will have experience advising on a broad range of tax issues, including:

• CTA qualification or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Deep understanding of private client tax matters and legislation.
• Experience liaising with HMRC on complex issues.
• Proven report writing and advisory skills.
• Previous supervisory and management experience.
• Knowledge of Inheritance Tax mitigation strategies and UK trust regulations.

Client experience should include private clients, high net-worth individuals, and owner-managed businesses, with familiarity in dealing with non-UK domiciled and non-resident clients. The candidate should demonstrate strong enterprise and business-building skills, including client engagement, referral generation, and commercial judgment.

Delivery skills involve managing WIP, meeting deadlines, and motivating the team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
