This will be a critical role in building the Learning and Capability community of practice at BT. This role manages the flexible pool of Learning & Capability Specialists, Professionals, and Deployment Managers. The pool manager will be responsible for all line management responsibilities: managing performance, coaching, upskilling, career development and team engagement and capability, embedding the state-of-the art learning practices in the team.

What you'll be doing
  • Leads and manages a team of Learning & Capability Specialists, Professionals and Deployment Managers.
  • Develops and implements strategies for continuous growth and development of the team.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and performance management to ensure high levels of team performance.
  • Oversees career development, team engagement, and capability building initiatives.
  • Collaborates with product owners to understand day-to-day task assignments and support team members in their execution monitoring and ensuring balanced utilisation of resources.
  • Stays updated with industry trends and best practices in learning and development and drives upskilling and capability building in the BT Group Learning community.
Skills and Experience You’ll Need:
  • Strong leader of people and proven track record of building high performing teams and strong succession.
  • Adept in developing and implementing strategies for continuous growth and development of the team.
  • Skilled coach, mentor, and driver of performance to ensure high levels of team performance.
  • Collaborating and working with Agile squads and product owners to understand day-to-day task assignments and support team members in their execution.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor and building strong relationships with colleagues and the business.
  • Experienced in identifying, evaluating, and managing risks, capacity planning and prioritising of work and resources.
  • Commercially astute and able to speak the language of the Business and ability to use deep business knowledge to inform decision-making.
  • Adept at leveraging external research, insights and trends to develop colleague centric, innovative learning interventions that are deeply connected to the business strategy and context.
  • Sound experience with behavioural science and behavioural change management and translating that into practical interventions.
  • Track record of building strong, credible relationships with senior stakeholders and successful at influencing and gaining buy in.
  • Data and insight driven, with sound experience of translating into compelling narratives to drive decision making and influence outcomes.
  • 15% on target bonus
