Senior Manager: Infrastructure Operations Engineering

The Job

We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the ISD Markets Operations Engineering Function. You will oversee a talented team of engineers, demonstrating superb technical competency to deliver mission-critical infrastructure while ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security.

Responsibilities

1. Lead a team of system engineers, providing subject matter expertise and implementing best practices in automation, monitoring, and alerting.
2. Manage, deliver, and monitor key system and infrastructure improvements.
3. Architect, design, and implement enhancements to the environment.
4. Take ownership of team-delivered projects.
5. Report on project progress, identify risks, and manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.
6. Plan proactively to meet deliverables and goals.
7. Participate in designing information and operational support systems.
8. Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, applications, and system management tools.
9. Provide advanced support for existing environments when needed.
10. Maintain system stability and reliability at the highest levels.
11. Serve as a key escalation point for major incidents.
12. Ensure proactive system and infrastructure availability.
13. Propose strategic service and system enhancements, liaising with vendors, users, and IT teams.
14. Monitor performance, identify issues, and collaborate with engineers for resolution.
15. Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
16. Develop and maintain scripts to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
17. Ensure services meet SLA requirements through the issue tracking system.
18. Escalate risks and issues, providing regular status updates.
19. Document manual and automated processes thoroughly.
20. Understand complex environments to identify and resolve problem areas.
21. Assist with out-of-hours and weekend changes.

The Person

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or 10 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in UNIX/Linux environments, troubleshooting, and configuration.
• Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, RHEV).
• Knowledge of monitoring systems and automation tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible).
• Scripting skills (shell, Perl, Ruby, Python).
• Networking and database knowledge (Oracle, PLSQL).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Self-driven, responsive, and capable of working under tight deadlines.
