Senior Manager: Infrastructure Operations Engineering
The Job
We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the ISD Markets Operations Engineering Function. You will oversee a talented team of engineers, demonstrating superb technical competency to deliver mission-critical infrastructure while ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of system engineers, providing subject matter expertise and implementing best practices in automation, monitoring, and alerting.
- Manage, deliver, and monitor key system and infrastructure improvements.
- Architect, design, and implement enhancements to the environment.
- Take ownership of team-delivered projects.
- Report on project progress, identify risks, and manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.
- Plan proactively to meet deliverables and goals.
- Participate in designing information and operational support systems.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, applications, and system management tools.
- Provide advanced support for existing environments when needed.
- Maintain system stability and reliability at the highest levels.
- Serve as a key escalation point for major incidents.
- Ensure proactive system and infrastructure availability.
- Propose strategic service and system enhancements, liaising with vendors, users, and IT teams.
- Monitor performance, identify issues, and collaborate with engineers for resolution.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
- Develop and maintain scripts to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Ensure services meet SLA requirements through the issue tracking system.
- Escalate risks and issues, providing regular status updates.
- Document manual and automated processes thoroughly.
- Understand complex environments to identify and resolve problem areas.
- Assist with out-of-hours and weekend changes.
The Person
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or 10 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in UNIX/Linux environments, troubleshooting, and configuration.
- Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, RHEV).
- Knowledge of monitoring systems and automation tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible).
- Scripting skills (shell, Perl, Ruby, Python).
- Networking and database knowledge (Oracle, PLSQL).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-driven, responsive, and capable of working under tight deadlines.
