Michael Page International Recruitment Limited is seeking a Senior Manager - IFRS 9 Accounting & Controls based in Birmingham. The role focuses on overseeing IFRS 9 accounting and control processes, delivering UK balance sheet reporting, and strengthening SOX controls.

You will engage senior stakeholders across regulatory reporting, FINREP, and impairment data remediation with a focus on accuracy and timely decision-support.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with UK bank/financial services IFRS reporting experience.
• Strong understanding of IFRS 9 and related regulatory disclosures.
• Experience interpreting FINREP and PRA returns.
• Proven ability to lead data quality and remediation efforts.

Responsibilities

The Senior Manager - IFRS 9 Accounting & Controls role in the financial services industry focuses on overseeing accounting and control processes related to IFRS 9 compliance. Based in Birmingham, this position ensures financial accuracy and supports key decision-making within the organisation.

One of largest global banking and financial services organisations, with a network covering 50 countries.

Description

• Deliver ongoing IFRS 9 reporting for the UK balance sheet, including review/challenge of reporting solutions and supporting a streamlined reporting process
• Perform monthly expected credit loss pack reviews: reasonableness checks and variance analysis
• Provide technical review of key outputs (IFRS & FINREP credit disclosures, Encumbrance, PRA108) and perform quarterly supplementary reporting reviews
• Run data quality and remediation activities: validate impairment outputs, analyse complex datasets, support automation projects and data-quality fixes
• Own and operate controls (SOX) and help embed/improve the IFRS 9 reporting control framework.

Profile

• Demonstrable experience working within a UK bank / large financial services / IFRS reporting environment
• Qualified accountant ACA, ACCA
• Strong IFRS 9 experience
• Regulatory and financial reporting experience, including experience interpreting requirements such as FINREP and PRA returns
• SOX controls
• Advanced analytical and data remediation experience
• Experience of building, influencing, and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders

Job Offer
