Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a Senior Manager - IFRS 9 Accounting & Controls based in Birmingham to oversee accounting and control processes for IFRS 9 compliance within a leading UK bank.

You will deliver IFRS 9 reporting, review ECL packs, assess outputs (FINREP, PRA returns) and lead data quality and SOX control embedding across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant ACA or ACCA with UK experience.
• Strong IFRS 9 experience in banking/financial services.
• Experience in regulatory reporting incl. FINREP and PRA returns.
• Solid data analytics and remediation experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ongoing IFRS 9 reporting for the UK balance sheet.
• Perform monthly expected credit loss pack reviews with variance analysis.
• Provide technical review of outputs (IFRS & FINREP) and related disclosures.
• Run data quality and remediation activities; support automation projects.
• Own and operate SOX controls and strengthen the IFRS 9 control framework.

The Senior Manager - IFRS 9 Accounting & Controls role in the financial services industry focuses on overseeing accounting and control processes related to IFRS 9 compliance. Based in Birmingham, this position ensures financial accuracy and supports key decision-making within the organisation.

Description

• Deliver ongoing IFRS 9 reporting for the UK balance sheet, including review/challenge of reporting solutions and supporting a streamlined reporting process
• Perform monthly expected credit loss pack reviews: reasonableness checks and variance analysis
• Provide technical review of key outputs (IFRS & FINREP credit disclosures, Encumbrance, PRA108) and perform quarterly supplementary reporting reviews
• Run data quality and remediation activities: validate impairment outputs, analyse complex datasets, support automation projects and data-quality fixes
• Own and operate controls (SOX) and help embed/improve the IFRS 9 reporting control framework.

Profile

• Demonstrable experience working within a UK bank / large financial services / IFRS reporting environment
• Qualified accountant ACA, ACCA
• Strong IFRS 9 experience
• Regulatory and financial reporting experience, including experience interpreting requirements such as FINREP and PRA returns
• SOX controls
• Advanced analytical and data remediation experience
• Experience of building, influencing, and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders

Job Offer
