Senior Manager, External Reporting

Location: Manchester or Peterborough (Hybrid 1-2 days per week on-site)

About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Financial Control, the Senior Manager External Reporting will play a critical role in the preparation of the Group Annual Report and Accounts, as well as subsidiary financial statements under IFRS. This role includes leading the technical aspects of the Group consolidation process and managing the relationship with the external auditors.

Senior Manager, External Reporting

Location: Manchester or Peterborough (Hybrid 1-2 days per week on-site)

About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Financial Control, the Senior Manager External Reporting will play a critical role in the preparation of the Group Annual Report and Accounts, as well as subsidiary financial statements under IFRS. This role includes leading the technical aspects of the Group consolidation process and managing the relationship with the external auditors.

In addition to core reporting responsibilities, the Senior Manager will lead key financial reporting projects, such as implementation of new accounting standards; and assess the accounting implications of corporate transactions, including acquisitions. The successful candidate will also act as a subject matter expert, providing technical accounting guidance across the wider Finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the preparation and delivery of the Group Annual Report and Accounts, and subsidiary financial statements in accordance with IFRS.

Lead the technical aspects of the Group consolidation process including the elimination of intra-Group transactions and balances, eliminating investments in subsidiaries, and preparation of consolidated disclosures.

Manage the external audit process to ensure effective delivery in line with agreed deadlines.

Prepare technical accounting position papers and provide oversight and challenge of key accounting estimates and judgements.

Provide technical expertise and guidance on the treatment of accounting issues to the wider Finance team.

Skills, experience and your background:

Qualified accountant with at least five years post qualification experience.

Experience in external reporting involving a complex consolidation process.

Ability to deliver results while maintaining control and quality in the face of fixed and demanding deadlines.

Detailed UK GAAP and IFRS knowledge.

Excellent Excel skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Experience in managing a team of finance professionals.

Experience of external reporting within a regulated financial services business (desirable).
