Job summary

Red Snapper Recruitment are recruiting for a Principal Manager – Compliance for a local authority in the East of England. Ipswich is the location, with a hybrid pattern of 3 days in the office each week. The contract is permanent and the salary ranges from £53,051 to £55,224.

The role covers Maintenance & Contracts, health & safety leadership, budgeting, procurement, and policy development as part of the Housing & Community group. Closing date 23 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Degree in construction or related field with required experience.
• Five years’ technical and organisational knowledge in construction.
• Up to date regulations and practice in building.
• Experience delivering local authority services at senior level.
• Experience managing budgets and procurement.
• CPD evidence and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver services to required standards within area of control.
• Lead procurement of significant contracts and represent the council.
• Manage budgets, financial matters and performance.
• Participate in senior management and strategic direction.
• Oversee health and safety, CDM compliance for contracts.
• Develop staff through appraisal and training.
• Maintain external quality accreditations and reporting.
• Foster effective communications and stakeholder relations.
