Job description

Senior Management Accountant / Management Accountant (maternity cover)

ROLE PURPOSE

Join our dynamic finance team as a qualified accountant, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your strong technical skills and at least two years of management accounting experience to make a significant impact on The Arch Company's financial operations.

As a key member of the management accounts team, you will be instrumental in producing our monthly management accounts and other regular stakeholder reporting. Your responsibilities will include balance sheet reconciliations, VAT reporting, statutory financial reporting, supporting the audit process, and other ad hoc financial analysis as required. You'll collaborate closely with the Financial Controller, and the Business Modelling, Commercial Finance, Treasury, and Accounts Payable & Receivable teams, requiring excellent communication and teamworking skills.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Responsibility for month-end processes, including identifying and correcting errors, posting necessary transactions and journals, and reconciliations of balance sheet control accounts and bank accounts
  • Producing monthly management accounts and other key financial data, with primary ownership for specific line items, and reviewing actual performance against budget with operational teams
  • Input into shareholder reporting packs and analysis, with a focus on process improvement
  • Ownership of key balance sheet areas including rent-frees, incentives, and bad debts, ensuring accuracy and IFRS compliance where relevant
  • Supporting the year-end process and liaising with external auditors, including preparing analyses for financial disclosures and presenting findings clearly
  • Assisting in the annual budgeting process with operational and commercial teams
  • Quarterly VAT submissions and reporting
  • Communicating financial information effectively across all levels of the organization, including finance business partnering
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
  • CIMA / ACCA / ACA qualified
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience with month-end procedures, ledger closing, journal posting, reconciliations, and consolidations
  • Data manipulation skills and experience in analysis to support decision-making
  • Experience reporting financial data to management and stakeholders, including variance analysis
  • Excellent planning, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and Word
  • Excellent communication skills
Desirable
  • PQ experience in real estate or related sector
  • Experience with VAT reporting and VAT bad debt relief claims
  • Experience or willingness to develop business partnering skills
  • Knowledge of advanced data tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc.
