About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and capable Financial Controller / Senior Management Accountant to take full ownership of the finance function within a dynamic and growing Construction firm. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring strong financial acumen, leadership capability, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all aspects of the finance function, including accounts receivable and payable.
• Oversee bookkeeping activities and ensure accurate maintenance of the general ledger.
• Manage invoicing, commission payments, payroll processing, and cash flow forecasting.
• Produce and analyze monthly management accounts, KPIs, and financial reports.
• Track income and expenditure on projects or properties, producing profitability and joint venture calculations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis across the business.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive efficiency improvements.
• Handle VAT and CIS returns, statutory compliance, and audit preparation.
• Coordinate with external accountants and assist with year-end processes.
• Develop financial models and scenarios to support strategic planning.
• Maintain and improve internal financial systems, controls, and documentation.
• Provide financial insight to stakeholders and support commercial decision-making.
