Job summary

The Freemasons' Charity, a leading UK grant-making charity, is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to deliver accurate financial reporting, budgeting and analysis across the organisation. You will work closely with stakeholders to provide financial insight and support strategic decision-making in a hybrid working environment.

Key duties include monthly management accounts, forecasts, and cashflow planning, plus maintaining robust financial controls and supporting audits.

Qualifications

• A qualified accountant (full member of ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent).
• Proven management accounting experience within a UK organisation.
• Experience producing budgets, forecasts and management reports to tight deadlines.
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
• Previous supervisory or line management experience.
• Desirable: charity sector experience and exposure to Salesforce or similar CRM/finance systems.

Summary

An opportunity to join one of the UK's largest grant-making charities as a Senior Management Accountant, playing a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, budgeting, business partnering, and financial control across the organisation. This role would suit a qualified accountant with strong management accounting expertise, advanced Excel skills, and experience working closely with stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.

The Role

This Senior Management Accountant position sits within the Finance Department and is responsible for delivering high-quality financial information, reporting, budgeting and analysis to support organisational decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

• Producing monthly management accounts, forecasts and financial reporting
• Leading budgeting and financial planning processes
• Providing business partnering support to budget holders and project teams
• Managing financial controls, reconciliations and compliance requirements
• Supporting audits, systems improvements and finance process development

Main Duties

As the Senior Management Accountant, you will:

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, variance analysis and financial commentary
• Lead month-end activities including journals, reconciliations and ledger reviews
• Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts and cashflow projections
• Support year-end accounts preparation and external audit requirements
• Provide financial insight and guidance to stakeholders across the organisation

The Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

• A qualified accountant (full member of ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent)
• Proven management accounting experience within a UK organisation
• Experience producing budgets, forecasts and management reports to tight deadlines
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills
• Previous supervisory or line management experience

Desirable experience includes working within the charity sector and exposure to Salesforce or similar CRM and finance systems.
