Our client, a highly regarded multi-disciplined law firm in London has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Management Accountant to join their finance team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare daily cash flow reporting and provide explanations of material movements
- Complete month end reporting in accordance with the agreed deadlines
- Preparation of the monthly management pack (P/L, B/S and Cash flow) and commentaries for Limited company, LLP and the individual departments
- Ensure all Balance Sheet reconciliations are completed at every month end
- Preparation/review of the monthly fee-earners billing and time reports
- Prepare bank covenant reporting in accordance with our loan agreements
- Ensure Former Partner/EOT/Partner Drawings payments are paid on time and schedules kept up to date
- Prepare budgets for both entities with support from FC and FD
- Oversee the production of an integrated P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow model
- Prepare the year-end Stat accounts
- Preparation of year-end schedules
- Assist with the year-end audit process and deal with any audit queries
- Approve and oversee all year-end balance sheet reconciliations
- Carry out year-end WIP valuation process to ensure all Fee Earners approve the WIP held at year-end
- Review and implement changes in working practice so the audit can be completed in an efficient manner
- Ensure the SRA audit report is prepared and received back from the Auditors prior to the deadline date. Ensure the report is submitted to the SRA if necessary to do so.
- Liaise with auditors regarding tax calculations and ensure that the correct information is provided in a timely manner
- Dealing with the quarterly VAT returns to HMRC
- PSA – prepare return for HMRC and pay over tax owed by deadline date
- Provide information to the tax accountant for Capital Allowance work and disallowable expenses
- Ensure insurance policies are kept up to date and paid on time (incudes Office Insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance)
- Provide relevant information at renewal to allow for renegotiation of costs
- Ensuring effective financial control and appropriate management accounts are maintained
- Ensure that performance reviews are completed for all direct reports
- Mentoring and, where necessary, training members of the finance team to ensure they can provide a good level of service to the Firm.
- Ensure that the Budgets and Forecasts are in compliant with the banking covenants and suitable risk factors are considered to allow for headroom.
- Prepare and submit practising certificates and payment with the help of the accounts asst.
- Assist the IT department with regular testing and updates to the system ensuring correct controls are in place
- Dealing with the office for Office of National Statistics forms
- Liaising with the Billing team to ensure all client residual balance are dealt with
- Dealing with various accounts queries
Candidate Profile
- Experience in a law firm (optional)
- Qualified Accountant – 2 PQE with Practice Experience (ACCA or CIMA)
- Experienced in preparing monthly management accounts
- Experience in preparing stat accounts for LLP and Limited company
- Experience in running year-end audit process and liaising with auditors
- Experience in preparing Partner tax returns
- Strong Excel and IT skills – includes good knowledge of formulas
