Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking an experienced Maintenance Shift Manager at the Crick site to provide technical leadership across the engineering function and drive reliability and safety improvements. You will lead a skilled maintenance team, champion safety and continuous improvement, and align activities with production targets and capital projects.

Qualifications

• Qualified engineer with NVQ level 4 or equivalent
• Experience leading and coaching a maintenance team
• Extensive experience in industrial engineering maintenance and supervisory roles
• Hands-on experience with PLCs, hydraulics/pneumatics, electrical and mechanical systems
• Strategic leadership, project and change management
• Advanced fault-finding and root-cause analysis and leading continuous-improvement programmes (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM)
• Stakeholder communication and team development across shifts
• Data analysis and KPI reporting
• HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical or Engineering Maintenance
• NEBOSH General Certificate or higher
• IOSH Managing Safely or working towards
• ILM/CMI Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management

Responsibilities

• Lead safety culture and ensure compliance across automation assets
• Develop and execute shift maintenance strategies to meet targets
• Supervise, coach, and evaluate maintenance technicians and SMEs
• Line manage maintenance teams and HR compliance
• Plan and deliver preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance
• Manage shift budgets and cost controls
• Lead root-cause analyses and corrective actions
• Coordinate shutdowns and capital projects with Production/Engineering/Procurement
