Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Maintenance Team Leader for the Midlands Super Hub in Crick on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will lead maintenance activities, manage engineering automation, and ensure safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness.

The role requires an engineering apprenticeship and experience in electrical automation, with a focus on training and developing the maintenance team.

Qualifications

  • Time served Engineering apprenticeship.
  • Engineering electrical qualification to HCN level or equivalent (desirable).
  • NVQ3 electro/mechanical with experience of leading a team.
  • Training, coaching and developing a technical team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate maintenance techniques to meet asset performance criteria.
  • Provide technical training, coaching and development to the maintenance team.
  • Assist risk assessments for automation equipment and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Develop the engineering team with performance reviews and development meetings.
  • Provide technical direction aligned with company values and standards.
  • Uphold Health and Safety policies within the maintenance teams.
  • Address unacceptable behaviour within the engineering community.

Maintenance Team Leader

Salary: £60,016 per annum, plus company pension scheme, with highly competitive contribution rates, and 22.5 days annual leave plus bank holidays
Fixed Term, 12 month contract
Full time, 40 hours per week

Are you a proactive, focused candidate with a background in engineering? Have you got strong skills in electrical automation and hold a relevant engineering qualification? If so, we are looking for a Maintenance Team Leader on a 12 month fixed term contract to join our Midlands Super Hub based at Crick.

About the Role

On a day to day basis, you will provide proactive technical leadership, guidance, and support for all engineering automation activities within the Hub. You will ensure that all engineering maintenance is completed to defined standards and delivered by a competent engineering workforce, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

You will also
  • Lead and co-ordinate the implementation of maintenance techniques to ensure that the asset performance and availability design criteria is achieved at all times
  • Provide and deliver technical training, coaching and development to the engineering maintenance team
  • Assist in the risk assessment process relating to automation equipment and Engineering Safe Systems of Work. Deliver modifications and ensure that the configuration status of hardware/software and mechanical set up is up to date and technically managed
  • Develop the engineering team on a day-to-day basis, proving support, and advice, conducting annual Individual Performance Reviews and regular development meetings to ensure the highest technical standards are met
  • Offer technical direction in-keeping with Business Values and standards, explaining as necessary
  • Challenge unacceptable behaviour, bullying and harassment, within the mail centre engineering community
  • Ensure all relevant Health & Safety Policy and Guidelines are adhered to by Maintenance Teams
Attendance

Full time, night shift, Monday to Friday 22:00 - 06:30
