Job summary

Fusion People Ltd in Sunderland is seeking a Commercial Lead for M&E projects with hybrid flexibility. You will own the commercial performance across multiple regional schemes, drive profitability, manage budgets, and ensure contractual compliance from pre-construction to final account.

You will lead Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff, oversee procurement, and develop commercial strategy while engaging with clients and supply chain partners to optimise value and reduce risk.

Qualifications

• Senior commercial experience in M&E/building services
• Strong understanding of mechanical/electrical installations and project lifecycles
• Proven track record delivering high-value construction projects
• Excellent knowledge of NEC and/or JCT forms of contract
• Leadership of commercial teams and mentoring
• Strong negotiation, financial management and reporting skills
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive performance
• Degree-qualified or professional membership desirable

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial management of M&E projects from pre-construction to final account
• Develop and implement commercial strategy across multiple projects
• Oversee procurement of subcontractors and major supply chain packages
• Manage project budgets, forecasting and financial reporting
• Ensure contract administration under NEC/JCT or bespoke contracts
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities
• Lead and develop Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff
• Support tendering and pre-construction activities with commercial input
• Act as senior commercial interface with clients and supply chain partners
• Drive continuous improvement within commercial processes and governance
