Job summary

Burnell Switchgear & Control is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer in Dartford. You will own designs from concept through manufacture and testing, working with project engineers, suppliers and production.

This role covers all stages from initial design to final delivery of high-quality electrical designs that meet customer requirements and standards. You will produce schematics, wiring diagrams and general arrangements, ensure manufacturability, and provide ongoing technical

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified electrical engineer with LV design experience.
• Experience with LV switchgear or control panels.
• Familiarity with British Standards.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and general arrangement drawings using EPLAN and CAD software.
• Design bespoke LV switchgear, control panels and power distribution systems to customer specs.
• Develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions suitable for manufacture, installation and maintenance.
• Select electrical components to meet technical, commercial and programme requirements.
• Produce bills of materials and parts lists for procurement and manufacturing.
• Ensure designs comply with British Standards, customer specs and internal procedures.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and test departments throughout build.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams to support project delivery.
• Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement activities.
