Job summary

St Monica Trust in Sandford-on-Thames is seeking a dedicated restaurant supervisor to support our village restaurants and cafés. You’ll help deliver high standards of food service, supervising staff, and ensuring a welcoming, low-stress environment for residents.

With 35 hours a week and a pattern of 9am to 4:30pm including alternate weekends, you’ll enjoy predictable hours, a supportive team, and opportunities to develop in a charity focused on helping older people.

Qualifications

• Basic Food Hygiene qualification required.
• Diploma (or NVQ) level 2 Catering/Food Service or equivalent.
• Experience working in a busy restaurant environment.
• Stock taking and ordering responsibilities.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety legislation/best practice.
• Proficiency with IT tools including Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements.
• Ability to delegate and handle complaints effectively.

Responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for the restaurant, events and conferences.
• Support Head Chef by overseeing day-to-day operations of village restaurants/cafés; ensure quality and high standards.
• Maintain high standards of cleaning, food preparation, and staffing rota coordination.
• Monitor stock levels and rotate stock; report faults and maintenance needs.
• Build relationships with customers, staff, residents and families.
• Occasionally deputise for the Restaurants Manager and assist with recruitment/induction.
• Promote best practices in Health and Safety, Food Hygiene and Hygiene standards.
