Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Recreation Aide to assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents. You will work with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director to maintain records, communicate with families and staff, and support activities.

A college diploma in recreation or gerontology is required, with prior senior care experience and strong MS Office skills. The role emphasizes compassionate engagement, adherence to ethical standards, and

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent required.
• Experience working with seniors is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of programs for residents.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations.
• Communicate with residents, families, volunteers and staff about events.
• Attend in-service education to stay updated on senior care trends.
• Participate in meetings to plan activities aligned with residents’ interests.
• Assist with meals and with outings as needed.
• Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
