Job summary

Addition is seeking a senior Linux-focused contractor to support and improve enterprise Linux platforms in a government/secure technology setting. The role involves automation, containerisation and platform development in a hybrid setup with onsite work at Milton Keynes.

You will lead incidents, upgrades and technical projects while maintaining documentation and working within security processes. The contract is initially six months, inside IR35, with a paid on-call rota and a 37.5+ hour

Qualifications

• Advanced Linux troubleshooting across enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting secure, highly available systems.
• Hands-on automation to improve operational processes.
• Experience building Linux development environments and services.
• Containers and modern deployment practices.
• Working with VMware technologies.
• Experience within service management and security frameworks.
• Strong documentation and stakeholder communication.
• Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, LFCS or LPIC are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and administering enterprise Linux platforms across secure environments.
• Investigating complex infrastructure incidents and performance issues to resolution.
• Building and maintaining stable, scalable Linux environments for applications and development teams.
• Using automation to streamline infrastructure delivery and reduce manual processes.
• Containerising applications and supporting modern deployment practices.
• Delivering platform upgrades and infrastructure improvements alongside BAU work.
• Producing clear technical documentation and maintaining operational records.
• Leading technical conversations around platform development and infrastructure strategy.
