Job summary

CBSbutler Holdings Limited trading as CBSbutler is seeking a Linux/DevOps SME for an onsite assignment in Basingstoke. You will lead Linux infrastructure, DevOps tooling and platform engineering in a high-profile technical environment.

The role requires hands-on expertise, problem solving across CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Terraform/Ansible) and container technologies, with active MOD DV clearance essential. 12-month rolling contract, 100% onsite.

Qualifications

• Extensive Linux experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong background in DevOps and platform engineering.
• Excellent Linux admin and troubleshooting skills.
• Scripting/automation with Bash and/or Python.
• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid Git and source control understanding.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible).
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker).
• Strong networking and systems integration knowledge.
• Current, active MOD DV clearance.

Responsibilities

• Act as Linux/DevOps SME, providing technical leadership across the environment.
• Design, implement and maintain Linux-based infrastructure and platforms.
• Support DevOps tooling and continuous improvement of processes.
• Automate infrastructure, configuration and operations wherever possible.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux and platform issues.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and tooling.
• Support IaC and configuration management practices.
• Contribute to platform resilience, security and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, security and operations teams.
• Provide technical documentation and best-practice guidance.
• Mentor other engineers as needed.
• Explore emerging technologies and recommend platform improvements.
• Participate in technical design and architecture activities.
