Job summary

CBSbutler Holdings Limited trading as CBSbutler is seeking an experienced Linux Subject Matter Expert to join a high-profile technical environment onsite in Reading. You will provide senior-level expertise across Linux infrastructure, DevOps tooling, automation and platform engineering.

Due to the nature of the environment, active MOD DV clearance is essential. You will lead as a technical authority, guiding engineering, development and operations teams while developing robust CI/CD pipelines

Qualifications

• Extensive commercial Linux experience in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on DevOps and platform engineering expertise.
• Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash/Python).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
• Git and source control proficiency.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible).
• Containers and orchestration knowledge.
• Networking and infrastructure concepts understanding.
• Experience in secure, highly controlled environments.
• Ability to act as a senior SME and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Act as Linux and DevOps SME, providing leadership across the environment.
• Design, implement and maintain Linux-based infrastructure and platforms.
• Support DevOps tooling and CI/CD process improvements.
• Automate infrastructure, configuration and operations.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux and platform issues.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and tooling.
• Support infrastructure-as-code and configuration management.
• Contribute to platform resilience, security and performance.
• Collaborate with engineering, security and operations teams.
• Produce technical documentation and best-practice guidance.
• Mentor engineers and explore new technologies.
