Job summary

CBSbutler is seeking a Linux SME for a 12-month rolling contract in Reading, fully onsite. The role requires active MOD DV clearance and a strong background in Linux, DevOps, automation and platform engineering.

You will drive senior technical initiatives and work closely with engineering, development and operations teams. The position involves building robust Linux infrastructure, designing CI/CD pipelines, and mentoring engineers to improve platform resilience and performance in a secure

Qualifications

• Extensive Linux experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong scripting/automation skills (Bash/Python).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
• Git and source control proficiency.
• Infrastructure as Code familiarity (Terraform/Ansible).
• Containers and orchestration knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Act as Linux/DevOps SME providing leadership across the environment.
• Design, implement and maintain Linux-based infrastructure and platforms.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and tooling.
• Automate infrastructure, configuration and operational processes.
• Troubleshoot complex Linux and platform issues.
• Support infrastructure as code and configuration management.
• Contribute to platform resilience, security and performance.
• Mentor engineers and document standards.
