Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking Lighting Engineers from Engineer to Principal Engineer level to support Local Government and Strategic Road Network capabilities. You will join a growing, multi-disciplinary lighting team across the UK and work with clients on a range of projects from commercial to infrastructure.

The role requires proficiency in Lighting Reality/ Dialux and AutoCAD, knowledge of external lighting standards, and the ability to coach junior staff.

Qualifications

• Proficient in lighting design from conception through to issue for construction and experience with Lighting Reality, Dialux or similar software.
• Strong understanding of external lighting standards, guidance, legislation and regulations.
• Good knowledge of electrical design and lighting maintenance operations.
• Membership in a relevant professional organisation, aiming for IEng/CEng for more senior roles or working towards it.
• Ability to coach and develop junior team members.
• Experience in Local Government or Strategic Road Network sectors.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed design layouts, drawings and supporting documentation per QA and client requirements.
• Prepare feasibility and option reports, specs and technical notes.
• Engage with luminaire, column, controls and electrical manufacturers.
• Coordinate with contractors, support on site, respond to RFIs and TQs.
• Conduct non-intrusive site visits to support lighting assessments and clearance drawings.
• Assist with project proposals and monitor progress against milestones and budget.
