Job summary

University of Bath is seeking a Senior Library Assistant to join the Document Delivery team. The role supports Inter-Library Loans, Bath Copies and the Library Scanning Service for teaching staff, ensuring efficient access to materials not held in the library.

The successful candidate will work 21.9 hours per week (Mon-Wed) on a fixed-term basis until 31 July 2027, bringing strong customer service and IT skills to a busy HE library setting.

  • Support services within the Document Delivery team to ensure timely access for teaching staff.

Job description

This Senior Library Assistant role within the Document Delivery team works across its three services of (Inter-Library Loans, Bath Copies and Library Scanning Service for Teaching Staff) to achieve the smooth and efficient provision of material not held within the library's collections in addition to the delivery of digitised content from the library's print holdings.

About you

You will be a reliable and committed team member with exceptional customer service skills and ideally have some previous experience of working in an HE library, along with:

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • demonstrable experience of being an effective team member.
  • attention to fine detail.
  • excellent IT skills, including the ability to learn local LMS based workflows and how to search a variety of resources to locate specific items of information.

You will understand the role that document delivery services plays in a higher education library. Knowledge and experience of working with an LMS such as Alma would be advantageous as would an understanding of digitisation processes from print resources.

This is a part-time position working 21.9 hours per week (Monday-Wednesday) for a fixed-term period until 31 July 2027.
