Job summary

University of Bath is seeking a part-time Higher Education Advisor to coordinate and deliver a broad programme of outreach activities, workshops and events that raise aspirations and widen access to higher education. You will work with schools, colleges and partners to support progression and reduce educational inequality.

The role requires an ability to design engaging sessions, coordinate multiple activities, and tailor communications for diverse audiences while maintaining safeguarding

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing and delivering engaging workshops, presentations or group learning activities.
  • Experience planning, coordinating and delivering events for young people.
  • Knowledge of higher education pathways, student finance, university applications and progression routes.
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders and tailoring communication to different audiences.
  • Understanding widening participation and barriers faced by underrepresented groups.
  • Experience developing learning materials or workshop content.
  • Knowledge safeguarding and working with young people.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and presentation skills.
  • Problem-solving and adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital platforms used for communication and event management.

Responsibilities

Job description

Special Conditions A DBS check is required for this position, The position involves driving and requires a valid UK driving licence, As a Higher Education Advisor, you will coordinate and deliver a large programme of outreach activities, workshops and events that raise aspirations, increase awareness of higher education opportunities and support progression. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with young people, schools, colleges and partner organisations, helping to reduce educational inequalities and widen participation in higher education.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about widening participation and committed to helping young people achieve their potential. You will be an excellent communicator who enjoys working with a wide range of stakeholders and has experience of engaging young people through workshops, events or educational activities. To be successful in this role you should have:

  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of designing and delivering engaging workshops, presentations or group learning activities.
  • Experience of planning, coordinating and delivering events, activities or programmes for young people.
  • Knowledge of higher education pathways, student finance, university applications and post-16 progression routes.
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders and tailoring communication to different audiences.
  • Understanding of widening participation and the barriers faced by groups underrepresented in higher education.
  • Experience of developing learning materials, educational resources or workshop content.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and working with young people.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to respond positively to changing circumstances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital platforms used for communication and event management.
Desirable
  • Diploma in Career Guidance and Development or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working within higher education, further education or outreach programmes.
  • Experience of delivering information, advice and guidance relating to higher education progression.
