Job summary

Howden is expanding its pensions advisory team, seeking an actuary with LGPS expertise to join as a consulting professional. You will build a portfolio across LGPS clients, work towards becoming a Scheme or Corporate Actuary, and may take on Team Leader responsibilities.

You will deliver broad LGPS actuarial and governance work, including funding strategy, employer risk and statutory reporting, while developing client relationships and contributing to tender activity.

Qualifications

• Fellowship FIA/FAA or equivalent required.
• DB Pension experience is essential.
• Proven leadership and people-management ability.
• Strong project and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and networking capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Client consulting for LGPS funds and employers.
• Support Partners in managing client relationships and issues.
• Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions.
• Review draft client reports and ensure clarity and consistency.
• Apply actuarial techniques to assess risk in pensions.
• Check colleagues' work for accuracy and LGPS compliance.
• Assist with new business opportunities, tenders, and pitches.
• Support team management and delivery standards.
• Keep abreast of pensions developments and share insights with clients.
• Contribute to high-quality work delivered on time.
