Job summary

Primark is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to act as a strategic partner across ecommerce, customer engagement, digital, logistics and technology initiatives. You will influence business decisions with clear, risk-based guidance and lead complex commercial negotiations to protect Primark’s interests.

You will collaborate across Technology, Digital, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance and People & Culture to deliver pragmatic legal solutions aligned with growth plans.

Qualifications

• Strong Legal Expertise: Qualified lawyer with 7-10+ years' post-qualification experience in a leading law firm or in-house.
• Strategic Business Partnering Skills: Advising senior stakeholders on legal risk, business strategy and transformation programmes.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial judgement drafting and negotiating a broad range of complex commercial agreements.
• Project & Programme Leadership: Track record coordinating large-scale projects balancing legal, commercial and operational priorities.
• Influencing & Relationship Building: Exceptional stakeholder management and ability to influence decisions at all levels.
• Pragmatic & Solutions-Focused Approach: Capable of delivering clear, commercially focused advice in fast-paced environments.

• Strategic Legal Partnering: Provide commercially focused legal advice that supports Primark's omnichannel growth, influencing key business decisions across ecommerce, customer engagement, digital, logistics, and technology initiatives.
• Lead Commercial Negotiations: Draft, negotiate, and conclude complex commercial agreements, partnering with stakeholders and external counsel to secure the best outcomes for the business.
• Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build trusted relationships across teams including Technology, Digital, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and People & Culture to deliver practical legal solutions that enable business objectives.
• Shape Business Decision-Making: Influence strategic and operational decisions by providing clear, risk-based legal guidance to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
• Strengthen Legal Operations & Capability: Support the development of a high-performing legal function by driving process improvements, promoting efficient ways of working, and contributing to team development and knowledge sharing.
• Manage Risk & Regulatory Compliance: Monitor emerging legal and regulatory developments, collaborate with compliance teams and external advisers, and ensure legal risks are effectively managed to support Primark's expansion ambitions.

• Strong Legal Expertise: Qualified lawyer with 7-10+ years' post-qualification experience gained within a leading law firm and/or a dynamic in-house legal environment.
• Strategic Business Partnering Skills: Proven experience advising senior stakeholders on legal risk, business strategy, and complex transformation or operational change programmes.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial judgement with extensive experience drafting, negotiating, and advising on a broad range of complex commercial agreements.
• Project & Programme Leadership : A track record of successfully supporting and coordinating large-scale projects, balancing legal, commercial, and operational priorities to drive successful outcomes.
• Influencing & Relationship Building: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships, challenge constructively, and influence decision-making at all levels of an organisation.
• Pragmatic & Solutions-Focused Approach: Able to navigate complex legal issues with confidence, develop practical legal strategies, and deliver clear, commercially focused advice in a fast-paced environment.
