Job Opportunity: Senior Legal Counsel at a University

We are partnering with a University based in the East Midlands to recruit a Senior Legal Counsel for their growing team on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time position with a salary range of £58,863 - £73,579, negotiable for experienced candidates. The University is flexible regarding the start date, waiting for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the University’s Legal Services team, collaborating closely with the Director of Legal and managing daily operations.
• Manage two solicitors and support staff, including external legal advisers.
• Negotiate, draft, and advise on a variety of legal and transactional matters such as supply and purchase agreements, licences, confidentiality agreements, research collaborations, MOUs, corporate documents, consultancy agreements, and IP issues.
• Provide legal advice across the University, working with the Governance Services team.

Required Experience:

• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Extensive experience in commercial law, including contract drafting, negotiation, and management.
