Job summary

Swanshurst School in Birmingham is seeking a highly motivated Senior Learning Mentor to join the pastoral team, driving attendance, achievement and self-esteem across key stages.

You will lead a team of Learning Mentors, coordinate whole-school interventions and work with students from diverse backgrounds to remove barriers to learning. The role requires safeguarding experience and a DBS check; commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of children is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience of safeguarding and Designated Safeguarding Lead training.

Job description

Role Overview

We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic Senior Learning Mentor to join our pastoral team.

You should have a proven track record of creating, leading and developing a variety of programmes to raise attendance, achievement and self-esteem of students and if successful whole school interventions working with individuals and groups across all key stages. You should be committed to working with a range of students from a wide range of ethnic and social backgrounds to remove barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of Learning Mentors to ensure students are effectively supported and make best progress.
  • Coordinate and lead whole school interventions and programmes to raise attendance, achievement and self-esteem.
  • Work across key stages to remove barriers to learning for students from diverse backgrounds.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Good working knowledge of the Early Help system.
  • Experience of safeguarding and Designated Safeguarding Lead training.
  • Experience leading teams and managing pastoral programmes.
Legal and Safeguarding

The role will require successful completion of pre-employment checks including enhanced DBS, Prohibition Check, medical fitness, right to work verification and relevant qualifications.

Knowledge and commitment to complying with the Immigration Act Part 7 and the Keeping Children Safe in Education requirements is essential.
