The Learning Development teams will collaborate with academic and professional services staff to design and deliver inclusive, innovative learning and assessment activities embedded within the curriculum. These activities will engage students in developing academic English and literacies, ensuring integrity and confidence in their academic practice while accommodating diverse learning differences. The team will establish scaffolded co-curricular, small group, short courses, and one-to-one support to help students consolidate, fill gaps, and improve skills, maximizing successful program outcomes.
The Senior Learning Developer will leverage relevant credentials and experience to understand and meet the needs of a diverse student cohort across the university, particularly within the College of Health, Science and Society (CHSS). They will lead others in teaching and facilitation, identifying inclusive approaches to ensure equitable opportunities for student success. This includes teaching, coaching, role modeling effective learning and assessment strategies, and embracing new technologies to foster academic and AI literacy.
This role involves providing literacy support aligned with the curriculum, tailoring approaches to meet individual needs, and participating in university meetings, professional development, and peer support schemes to uphold high-quality practice.
You will be qualified to graduate level or demonstrate equivalent experience, with relevant professional qualifications or experience in areas such as Librarianship, Learning Development, University Teaching, or holding a Higher Education Academy Fellowship. Evidence of ongoing CPD is essential.
You should possess strong knowledge and expertise in learning development, supporting students' academic literacy, and leading initiatives to develop study skills within the curriculum and projects. An understanding of pedagogical principles for blended, online, and classroom delivery is required.
Effective communication skills, digital literacy, and a commitment to the university's values—ambition, collaboration, inclusivity, innovation, and enterprise—are essential.
This part-time role is based at Glenside Campus, Bristol, working 22.5 hours per week. The role is campus-based at least 60% of the time and always when needed on campus.
