Job summary

JPMorganChase in London seeks a Lead Software Engineer to contribute as a core technical member within Digital Markets Execution Technology. You will design and deliver secure, scalable trading software, mentor engineers, and drive architectural excellence across distributed systems while championing AI-assisted engineering practices.

You will collaborate across globally distributed teams, oversee incident responses, and uphold strict security and resiliency standards throughout the SDLC.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
• Hands-on experience delivering system design and production-grade code for mission-critical platforms
• Strong Java (17+) experience including concurrency and OO design
• Experience designing clean APIs and rollout strategies for distributed systems
• Proficiency with Spring/Spring Boot, microservices, Kubernetes, Linux, and core networking concepts
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, resiliency, and security practices
• Experience leading effective use of AI-assisted software development tools
• Understanding of responsible AI use and secure data handling
• Strong communication across globally distributed teams

Responsibilities

• Executes and oversees end-to-end software solutions and troubleshooting for trading systems
• Designs high-performance, latency-sensitive services with awareness of upstream/downstream dependencies
• Develops secure production code and reviews peers' work
• Leads technical analysis, planning, code reviews, architecture sessions, and retrospectives
• Sets reliability goals and implements observability and resilience practices
• Leads incident response and post-incident reviews to improve stability
• Upholds secure-by-default engineering practices and risk controls across the SDLC
• Guides integration contracts and API/versioning strategies for platform services
• Drives adoption of enterprise AI-assisted engineering with validated outputs
• Mentors engineers and fosters inclusive, collaborative culture
• Ensures secure data handling and compliance in engineering workflows
