Capital One is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to join a backend team in London on a hybrid basis. You will lead a team or cross-functional squad, own end-to-end technical design, and drive scalable, secure software solutions that support business outcomes.

The role emphasizes collaboration, architecture, and cloud adoption. London office three days a week, with a strong focus on software quality, mentorship, and cross-team influence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in technical leadership, including leading a team or cross-functional squad.
• Experience building APIs using modern OO languages, preferably Java, with SOLID, SOA, HTTP/REST.
• Experience with AWS and cloud-based development.
• Strong architecture design for security and scale.
• Able to communicate across engineering to maximise inner-sourcing opportunities and reduce waste.
• Proven experience delivering high quality applications at scale.
• Advocate for quality with approaches such as Pair Programming, TDD and BDD.
