Job summary

JP Morgan Chase in London seeks a Senior Lead Software Engineer to design, build and improve scalable client-facing capabilities for J.P. Morgan Online International.

You will contribute hands-on code, mentor engineers and guide complex technical decisions within Asset & Wealth Management’s IT organisation. You will work with cross-functional teams to translate client workflows into reliable software, drive automation, and apply responsible AI practices while delivering high-quality production

Qualifications

• Formal software engineering foundation with strong Java/JVM expertise.
• Experience delivering scalable client-facing applications and services.
• Proven ability to design robust APIs and data models for complex systems.
• Practical cloud-native experience on AWS with automation and observability.
• Demonstrated open-source contributions or public code examples.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops secure, high-quality production code for scalable client-facing apps, APIs and services; reviews, debugs and improves code written by others.
• Drives design and implementation decisions for assigned capabilities, balancing data integrity, performance, security, reliability, maintainability and operating cost.
• Provides technical guidance to engineering and business partners, acting as a subject matter expert.
• Leads the technical delivery of complex changes through implementation, testing, integration and operational support.
• Applies enterprise-authorised coding agents and automation across design, implementation, testing, review and troubleshooting.
• Drives effective team adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices with peer review and testing.
• Works with business, Product, Design, web and mobile teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Improves engineering standards, observability and resilience; escalates risks to the proper owner.
• Mentors engineers through code and design reviews and shares reusable patterns.
