Job summary

Ofgem is seeking a senior regulatory leader to helm the Intelligent Oversight team and shape how we oversee energy networks. The role combines strategic influence with practical delivery, ensuring evidence-based judgements inform decisions that protect consumers.

You'll lead cross-functional collaboration, manage external engagement, and turn policy intent into implementable tools while benefiting from a comprehensive rewards package and flexible hybrid working.

Qualifications

  • Experience of regulatory oversight in any sector or energy sector regulation.
  • Ability to collect, interpret and analyse qualitative and quantitative evidence to identify risks and actions.
  • Experience leading engagement with external organisations and testing evidence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for senior audiences.
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical tools and ways of working.

You'll have the chance to grow your leadership credentials, taking the lead on important areas of oversight and bringing together expertise from across Ofgem to get to the heart of complex issues. We're looking for someone with experience of regulatory oversight in any sector or energy sector regulation, which could include policy development, performance monitoring, price controls or other company-facing regulatory work. You'll also need strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, experience of leading engagement with external organisations and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to turn strategic objectives into practical approaches and continually improve how they work will also be essential.

Person specification
  • Experience of regulatory oversight in any sector, or of working in energy sector regulation. This could include policy development, performance monitoring, price controls, or other company-facing regulatory work.(Lead)
  • Experience of collecting, interpreting and analysing qualitative and quantitative evidence to identify risks, trends, issues and recommended actions.
  • Experience of leading engagement with external organisations, including testing evidence, challenging performance, setting expectations and following up on agreed actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and produce high-quality advice, assessments and recommendations for senior audiences.
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives or policy intent into practical tools and ways of working, while managing delivery and continuously improving approaches.
