Job summary

Simmons & Hanbury is seeking a high-quality senior commercial lawyer to join its in-house team on a 12-month FTC starting in September, supporting the General Counsel. This is a varied role with responsibilities across commercial contracts, consumer law and technology projects.

The candidate should have significant commercial legal experience, strong academics and in-house exposure, ideally gained via secondment or permanent roles.

• PQE 8+ years (guide).

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day legal queries for the UK business.

• Advise on technology projects and consumer contracts.
• Stakeholder management and training for internal clients.
• Instruct and manage external lawyers; create templates and processes.

The role

The business is seeking a high quality senior commercial lawyer to join its in-house team on a 12 month FTC starting in September, supporting the General Counsel. This is an interesting and varied position.

• Managing day-to-day legal queries and advising on a variety of legal issues facing the UK business.
• Drafting, negotiating and advising on commercial contracts for suppliers, agencies and software, consumer contracts, marketing law (terms and conditions, promotions and advertising campaigns.
• Technology projects
• Stakeholder management
• Advising on high level consumer complaints
• Instructing and managing external lawyers
• Creating template documents and processes as necessary
• Training and development for internal clients

About you

• Significant commercial legal experience
• Strong academics
• In-house experience essential either gained on secondment or working in-house permanently.
• Law firm trained
• Strong interpersonal skills
