Job summary

University of Nottingham is seeking a Senior Lawyer (Regulatory and Contentious) to act as the lead legal advisor for regulatory and contentious matters. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, supervising the Regulatory and Contentious Lawyers and working with colleagues across the Commercial and Employment teams.

The role reports to the Deputy Director of Legal Services within a recently restructured, inclusive Legal Services team and supports ESG initiatives and broader university

Qualifications

About the role – the Senior Lawyer (Regulatory and Contentious) will be the lead legal advisor and in-house point of contact for regulatory and contentious related legal advice and support.

Working under the strategic direction of the Deputy Director of Legal Services, this role includes a high degree of autonomy in handling complex contentious matters, supervising and managing the Regulatory and Contentious Lawyers in the team and working collaboratively across the adjacent Senior Lawyers in the Commercial and Employment areas.

About the team-as part of the recently restructured, friendly and inclusive Legal Services team, you will contribute to new initiatives, support our ESG activities (including working with the University’s School of Law) and be part of the wider University community. Legal Services is an integral part of the University’s professional services.

About you-we’re looking for a pragmatic, analytical and technically capable lawyer, with great interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement in a complex environment. You will have strong experience in regulatory and contentious matters, at all stages of litigation. You will be comfortable in developing expertise in adjacent areas and work well as part of multidisciplinary teams.
