Job summary

Adur & Worthing Councils are seeking a qualified Lawyer (Advanced) to join the joint Legal Services team. You will handle housing, criminal and civil litigation with a focus on delivering practical, timely and accurate legal advice to Officers and Members of both councils.

The role requires substantial post-qualification experience and a collaborative, proactive approach in a flexible working environment at Worthing Town Hall.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive Advocate with substantial post-qualification experience in Housing Law, Criminal and Civil Litigation.
• Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to Officers and Members.
• Strong research and analytical skills to interpret legislation and develop pragmatic guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal advice to Officers and Members of both councils.
• Represent and support the councils in housing, criminal and civil litigation.
• Research legislation, draft opinions and contribute to policy and decision-making processes.
