Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking a Senior Lawyer (Contracts, Procurement and Major Projects) in Hereford. The role handles a broad range of contracts, grants, procurement and commercial work with a strong emphasis on client care and service quality.

The post requires a qualified Barrister/Solicitor/Legal Executive (CiLEX fellow) with knowledge of contract law and subsidy control. Flexible working and career progression are offered.

Qualifications

• A qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive who is a fellow of CiLEX with knowledge of contract and commercial law.
• Experience and knowledge of subsidy control, company law, contract, procurement law and drafting contracts including JCT or NEC4.
• Knowledge of Data Protection legislation would be an advantage but not essential.
• Ability to work unsupervised and carry your own caseload with excellent communication and analytical skills and deputise for more senior team.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and assistance on a wide range of issues, varying in complexity.
• Work closely with council departments to co-ordinate, problem-solve and manage a large number of instructions.
• Deliver high-quality client service and contribute to the improvement of the Legal Services Team.
