Job summary

Herefordshire Council is seeking a Senior Lawyer (Contracts, Procurement and Major Projects) to provide legal advice across contracts, procurement and commercial law for council departments. You will manage a caseload and contribute to the improvement of the Legal Services Team.

The role requires a qualified Barrister/Solicitor/Legal Executive with CiLEX fellowship and strong knowledge of contract and commercial law, including drafting standard build contracts such as JCT or NEC4.

Qualifications

• Qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive with CiLEX fellowship and strong contract/commercial law knowledge.
• Experience with subsidy control, company law, procurement and drafting contracts (JCT/NEC4).
• Knowledge of Data Protection legislation would be an advantage but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on contracts, procurement and major projects to council departments.
• Draft and review contracts, grants and commercial agreements.
• Manage own caseload and work with minimal supervision.
• Contribute to improvement of the Legal Services Team.
