Job summary

Akamai's Cloud Technology Group (CTG) seeks a Principal Architect to lead the architecture and design of a Kubernetes-based cloud platform that underpins our IaaS products. You will work embedded with the engineering team, own system design, develop PoCs, and mentor engineers while collaborating with product managers to shape the roadmap in an Agile environment.

This role requires 12+ years' experience in computer science, deep Kubernetes and Cloud Native experience, and a passion for scalable,

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure and platform design.
• Experience building highly available, fault-tolerant Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Proficient with Kubernetes and Cloud Native technologies (ArgoCD, Flux, Helm, etc.).
• Knowledge of Operator/Controller patterns, Cluster API, and multi-cluster.
• Strong container experience (Docker, containerd) and Linux fundamentals.
• Familiarity with CSI, CNI, Crossplane, Load Balancing, and Service Mesh.

Responsibilities

• Own system design and guide engineering direction.
• Build PoCs to inform design choices.
• Collaborate with product managers to shape direction.
• Help shape engineering roadmap with stakeholders.
• Develop best practices, share knowledge, mentor others.
• Work in an Agile environment with rapid development and open communication.
