Job summary

iO Associates is seeking a Senior Java Engineer / Tech Lead for a contract role on a large-scale product modernisation programme. You will work hands-on on a complex brownfield Java platform while coaching engineers as the team transitions toward AI-assisted development.

You will lead by example in solving intricate technical problems, mentoring peers, and guiding adoption of modern approaches like Spec Driven Development.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Senior Java Engineer or Tech Lead.
Experience coaching and mentoring engineers.
Experience with complex brownfield/legacy products.
Experience helping teams adopt AI within development practices.
Exposure to Spec Driven Development or similar approaches.
Able to dive into code and solve complex technical problems.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor the engineering team across the product modernisation programme.
Tackle high-complexity technical challenges on a brownfield Java platform.
Drive stability and modernisation efforts through hands-on coding and design decisions.
