Job summary

Bounteous is seeking a senior Java-focused engineer in the UK to enhance existing applications written in Java 17 and collaborate with senior stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable technical specifications.

You will work autonomously in a high-trust environment, contributing to unit, integration, and performance testing, while applying knowledge of streaming, AWS services, and modern architectural patterns to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–12 years of experience in a software engineering role.
• Strong Java 17 experience and knowledge of streaming in Java preferred.
• Proactive, self-starter with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Proactively contribute to enhancing Java applications (Java 17).
• Engage with senior stakeholders to break down complex requirements into technical specs.
• Work autonomously in a high-trust environment and collaborate with the team.
• Write unit, integration, and performance tests.
• Understand streaming in Java and leverage AWS services.
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and microservices architectures.
• Implement architecture patterns (microservices, event-driven, CQRS, hexagonal).
• Knowledge of SQL and non-relational databases.
• Communicate effectively with users and developer community.
