Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow is seeking a Senior Java Developer to design and build high‑quality Java/JEE applications for public and private sector clients across the UK.

You'll work within IBM's Client Innovation Centers, collaborating with analysts, testers and architects, applying best‑practice engineering (TDD, CI/CD) and participating in DevOps‑enabled delivery. You will grow technically and contribute to complex projects.

Qualifications

• Experience developing applications using Java/JEE and Spring frameworks.
• Knowledge of JSP and Servlets and web technologies.
• Understanding of dependency injection, IoC, and AOP.
• Awareness of functional programming ideas in Java; experience with TDD.
• Experience with API creation and integration; data access using JPA/Hibernate or similar.
• Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities; ability to work independently or in teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using Java/JEE and related frameworks.
• Build web components using modern Java frameworks and languages.
• Apply enterprise development practices including dependency injection and AOP.
• Develop secure, efficient data access and integrate with enterprise systems.
• Participate in DevOps‑aligned practices with CI/CD, automated testing, and version control.
• Troubleshoot issues and collaborate with analysts, testers, and architects to deliver.
• Mentor or own specific technical areas depending on experience.
