Job summary

Adaptive, a financial technology firm, is expanding its product capability in London and beyond. We are seeking a Java-focused backend engineer to design and develop high-performance Java applications and libraries for distributed trading systems.

You will write clean, efficient code, debug issues, and participate in code reviews to ensure quality. Hybrid working with a strong emphasis on collaboration and learning is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in Java server-side software development.
• Experience designing, building, debugging, and operating distributed systems.
• Experience designing and evolving messaging protocols.
• Experience designing and evolving software libraries.
• Experience applying various forms of testing to underpin software qualities, e.g., correctness and performance.
• Experience in measuring, benchmarking and profiling components and systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Java applications and libraries.
• Write clean, efficient and well-documented code.
• Troubleshoot and debug Java applications to ensure smooth performance.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and reusability.
• Keep up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in Java development.
• Pair with other team members to ensure high-quality outcomes.
