Job summary

IBM is seeking a Senior Java Developer to design and build high-quality Java/JEE applications for Public Sector and Defence clients. You will contribute to secure, dependable solutions, work with modern web technologies, and engage in CI/CD and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities include implementing enterprise patterns, integrating with legacy systems, and mentoring teammates as needed. Bachelor's degree and strong Java/JEE experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and substantial Java/JEE development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java frameworks, especially Spring, plus JSP/Servlets.
• Understanding of DI/IoC, AOP and functional programming concepts in Java.
• Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and API integration.
• Familiarity with data access via JPA/Hibernate and transaction management.
• Exposure to DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows.
• Excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills.
• Certifications such as OCA/OCP, Spring certifications, AWS/Azure, Docker/Kubernetes are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java/JEE applications and components.
• Build web components using modern Java frameworks.
• Apply enterprise patterns like DI, IoC, AOP, functional styles, and TDD.
• Develop secure, efficient data access and manage transactions.
• Integrate with enterprise and legacy Public Sector/Defence systems.
• Participate in DevOps practices: CI/CD, automated testing, version control.
• Troubleshoot issues to maintain reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with analysts, testers, architects, and other developers.
• Provide technical coordination or ownership of areas based on experience.
