Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow is seeking Java Developers and Software Engineers to design, modernise and operate complex technology services for national security clients. You will work across modern Java environments, contributing throughout the software development lifecycle from design to production support.

Senior and early-career engineers are welcome as long as you bring solid engineering foundations and curiosity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Experience with Java and modern frameworks in enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of Spring, Spring Boot, REST APIs and microservices.
• Ability to design, develop, test and deploy high-quality software.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile or hybrid delivery models.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain Java-based applications and services.
• Build backend services and REST APIs using Java and frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot.
• Contribute to microservice and distributed application architectures.
• Develop clean, maintainable and appropriately tested code.
• Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to engineering decisions.
• Diagnose and resolve complex software and production issues.
• Develop and maintain automated unit, integration and component tests.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and modern software deployment practices.
• Collaborate with Architects, DevOps Engineers, Test Engineers and others throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Support applications through development, testing and production environments.
• Contribute to code reviews and engineering standards.
