Job summary

Accenture is seeking a Senior Java Developer for its Advanced Technology Centre in Newcastle. You’ll design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications and microservices, delivering secure, scalable software within Agile teams.

You’ll mentor junior engineers, contribute to code reviews, and help evolve CI/CD practices while working on cloud-native solutions for public and private sector clients.

Hybrid Working

What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Java Developer, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices architectures that support scalable business solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver high-quality software throughout the development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application and production issues to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Contribute to code reviews, testing practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor junior developers and promote knowledge sharing across the team.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices to improve delivery quality and efficiency.
• Work with both relational and NoSQL databases to design and maintain robust data solutions.
• Contribute to technical discussions, solution design decisions, and engineering best practices.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in candidates with experience in:

Essential Skills

• Java 8+ development
• Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Experience using AI coding assistants to support development, code review and testing
• RESTful API development
• Microservices architecture
• Object-oriented programming principles and design patterns
• SQL and NoSQL database technologies, including MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB
• Python and Shell scripting
• Agile/Scrum delivery environments
• Troubleshooting and resolving production issues
• Mentoring or supporting junior developers
• Software engineering best practices, including code reviews and version control
