Job summary

Citi in Belfast is seeking a Senior Java Developer to deliver end-to-end development for our custody technology. The role requires design and implementation of event-driven systems, collaborating with stakeholders and delivering high-quality code in a hybrid work setting.

You will work on modern Java with IoC frameworks, contribute to architecture, and help advance resilient enterprise solutions. Prior experience in financial services and CI/CD practices is a plus.

Qualifications

• Strong event-driven architecture, design and development skills.
• Java experience with modern IoC frameworks.
• Experience working in mixed/virtual/diverse environments (small co-located team with a larger team in another location).
• Understanding and passion for writing clean code.
• Desirable: Financial services experience.
• Desirable: Experience with CI/CD / agile delivery mechanisms.
• Desirable: Knowledge of resilient enterprise systems.
• Desirable: Knowledge of mainframe development technologies (eg COBOL, CICS, VSAM).
• Desirable: Experience with pub/sub infrastructure (eg Kafka) and sql/no-sql databases.

Responsibilities

• Software Engineer to deliver end to end development.
• Work closely with wider stakeholders to deliver projects.
• Provide technical and functional expertise to the team.
• Work proactively & independently to address project requirements, and articulate issues/challenges with enough lead time to address project delivery risks.
• Contribute to design and system architectures.
