Job summary

Salt seeks a Senior Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable microservices on AWS. You’ll collaborate with platform engineers, QA, and product teams, following DevOps and security best practices. Hybrid role with 1–2 days on-site, starting ASAP for a 3–6 month contract.

The role requires 5+ years of backend experience, strong Java and AWS skills, and familiarity with RESTful APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and security standards. Travel involved.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong understanding of OOP and familiarity with FP.
• Proficient in Java (v8–v24) and DI frameworks.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven patterns.
• Hands‑on AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ECS, S3).
• Experience developing RESTful APIs; SOAP/GraphQL exposure.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline).
• Knowledge of unit, integration, and automation testing.
• Security best practices incl. OAuth2/JWT; SQL & NoSQL (OpenSearch).
• Familiarity with travel industry concepts/GDSes.

My new client is looking for a Senior Java Developer (AWS, Microservices) to join the team on a contract basis. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and cloud-native Java microservices, primarily hosted on AWS, integrating with both internal and third‑party systems. Collaborating closely with other technical leads, platform engineers, QA, and product teams, you will follow best practices in software design, observability, security, and DevOps principles. You will also contribute to L3 support activities, ensuring the stability and reliability of production systems. This role demands a proactive, curious mindset, keeping them at the forefront of digital innovation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles and familiarity with Functional Programming.
• Must be proficient in Java (v8 - v24) and DI frameworks Software design patterns.
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven patterns.
• Familiarity with other JVM languages.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ECS, S3, etc.).
