Avanti Recruitment Limited is seeking a Senior Java Full Stack Developer to join an established international software company in Central London. You will work hands-on across backend Java/Spring Boot and frontend frameworks (Angular/React/Vue), delivering robust, scalable enterprise applications.

You will design, develop and enhance core products, collaborating with architects, PMs and a global engineering team, with hybrid working and opportunities to influence architectural decisions.

Avanti Recruitment is recruiting for a Senior Java Full Stack Developer to join an established, international software company based in Central London.

The company develops complex, business-critical enterprise software used by major organisations internationally. Its products support high-volume transactions and essential business operations, giving engineers the opportunity to work on technically challenging, large-scale applications.

This is a hands-on development position with a strong emphasis on Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and microservices, alongside commercial frontend development using Angular, React or Vue.

The company is continuing to modernise its established software platforms, creating an opportunity to work with modern technologies while improving and extending existing enterprise applications.

The position would suit an experienced Java developer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, wants to remain hands-on rather than move into management, and is comfortable working across both backend and frontend development.

Strong mid-level developers ready to step into a senior position will also be considered.

The Role

You will be responsible for designing, developing and enhancing the company's core software products, working closely with developers, architects and project managers to deliver robust, scalable and maintainable solutions.

Responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing Java and Spring Boot applications.
• Developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Building and enhancing frontend functionality.
• Working with relational databases and SQL.
• Contributing to technical architecture and design discussions.
• Modernising existing applications and improving performance, scalability and maintainability.
• Troubleshooting complex technical problems, conducting code reviews and supporting testing and releases.
• Collaborating with an established international engineering team.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Genuine commercial frontend development experience using Angular, React or Vue.js.
• Good understanding of relational databases, including writing and troubleshooting SQL queries.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software engineering principles and design patterns.
• Experience developing and maintaining complex enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with Git, testing, debugging and modern software development practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical implementations in detail.
• Comfortable working across both backend and frontend development.

Angular is the company's preferred frontend framework, but developers with commercial React or Vue experience who are willing to learn Angular will also be considered.

Desirable Skills

• Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Cloud technologies and DevOps/CI/CD pipelines.
• Jenkins, Maven and other build tools.
• Experience with J2EE, JBoss or established enterprise systems.
• Experience with large-scale transactional systems, billing platforms or telecommunications software.
• Oracle or PL/SQL experience.

Interview Process

• First stage: Technical video interview covering previous development experience, Java, Spring Boot and architecture. Practical coding exercises may be included.
• Second stage: Onsite technical assessment and interview at the office.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: 65,000 - 75,000 depending on experience
• Hybrid working: 2 days in the office, with 3 days working from home
• Working hours: Generally 9:00am - 5:30pm
• Holiday: 25 days + Bank holidays
